SuperNotch keeps the contents of your clipboard history, screenshots, recordings, application-usage records, preferences, and other local product data on your Mac. We do not upload that content for analytics or license checks.
Data on your Mac
Features request the permissions they need when you use them. Optional background behavior can be enabled separately. Local clipboard and usage records are not included in license requests.
Free trial
Clicking Start free trial saves the first-use time and device key on your Mac so the trial can begin during a temporary network outage. When connected, the app sends the Mac's hardware UUID, serial number if available, and device public key in an encrypted request. Our server stores keyed hashes of the available hardware identifiers, a hashed hardware binding in the signed trial record, the public key and its hash, trial start and expiry dates, and a keyed hash of the request IP address for abuse limits. We do not store raw hardware identifiers for the new trial flow. No email address, verification code, or payment card is required.
Trial start and app-usage events sent to PostHog do not include an email address or raw hardware identifiers. Verified email addresses collected under the earlier email-code trial flow remain in our private trial records and PostHog dashboard; no new address is collected when you start a device-bound trial. We do not send promotional messages without a separate opt-in.
The app checks the trial time on your Mac and normally verifies with the server at launch and about once an hour. A temporary network outage does not interrupt a trial. A short grace period can extend access up to 24 hours beyond the 72-hour server grant, but a confirmed rejection of an unregistered trial ends access. Trial requests and successful responses are encrypted in addition to HTTPS.
Licensing and diagnostics
SuperNotch may contact our service to check for updates, start checkout, activate or validate a license, and send minimal app launch, foreground activity, feature-opening, license lifecycle, crash, and hang events. A crash event contains the app version, macOS exception type, and offset of the first SuperNotch code frame; a hang event contains a duration range. Full crash reports, recordings, clipboard contents, and file paths are not uploaded.
License requests include a license key, device public key, and activation state. Request bodies and successful responses are encrypted in addition to HTTPS. The server stores a one-way license-key hash, device public-key hash, seat status, and short-lived renewal challenges.
Website analytics
The website measures page views, unique browsers, and clicks on links and buttons, including download and checkout clicks. Events can include the referring page, campaign parameters, device type, and approximate country. Button text, form entries, and file contents are not sent as website click-event properties.
Other services and contact
Creem processes checkout and license issuance. External services used by a tool you open, such as currency, quote, lyrics, or optional Jev ranking providers, receive the request needed for that tool. For questions or requests about your trial data, email [email protected].
